Not only are we the most social padel nation, we’ve taken to the sport so wholeheartedly that the UK now ranks as the world’s fifth padel market by number of games played and monopolises the world’s top 10 of best earning clubs, behind only Spain and Italy for club revenues.
The data, released today by market-leading booking platform Playtomic, which works with 80% of commercial padel operators in the UK, is remarkable given the transformation the sport has undergone here in the last five years from a virtual standing start to around 900 courts and more than 300 venues (LTA figures May 2025).
Pablo Carro, co-founder of Playtomic, which is active in 60 countries, works with more than 6,000 clubs and in excess of three million players, said: “Britain’s moment on the world padel stage has arrived and, best of all, all the signs tell us this is just the start. What the stats say:
The most social padel playing nation: the UK has the highest ratio of open matches to regular bookings in the world. (Open matches allow Playtomic users to book games with players of a similar level).
🎾 The world’s fifth padel market: this is by number of games played and is an outstanding achievement given that padel is a relatively new sport in the UK and up against established markets such as Spain and fast-growing European countries.
🎾 Top 10 revenue-generating padel clubs worldwide: Six are based in the UK, an astonishing number.
🎾 Active monthly Playtomic users in the UK: in the last year this has risen sharply from 35,000 to 156,000.
🎾 New players: some 40,000 new players across Playtomic-powered clubs in the UK are stepping on court every month, up from 25,000 in January.
🎾 Market size: Playtomic says the UK’s padel infrastructure (news courts) is up 300% year-on-year.
