The first-ever UK Padel Charity Championships made its debut at Canary Wharf’s Padium, blending competition with a charitable mission in support of London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
Team 10Star claimed the title, capping off a great day of timed padel matches and a 10 point challenge against some of the best players in the UK.
Sponsored by Delta Capita, teams from across the city went head-to-head in a spirited contest, with 10Star emerging victorious thanks to relentless energy, slick teamwork, big-match composure and by the look of it some quite serious training and preparation!
The pairs then featured in a ’10-Point Challenge’, where top GB players Jasmine Dedakia, Laura Jackson, Jake Bewley and Sam Jones took on the teams in a fast-paced, crowd-pleasing 10 point showdown. The 10star team once again dominated, achieving the highest score of 6!
CEO of MACH technology at Delta Capita, Steve Vinnicombe, fielded three teams for the challenge, getting into the spirit of a UK Padel event. He said: “Delighted that Delta Capita could support such a cause as GOSH whilst chasing shadows around padel courts!”
“Our goal is always to bring communities together through padel and sport,” said UK Padel CEO Nick Baker. “In this event it was the turn of the city community. The level of padel exceeded all our expectations. The pros brought world-class flair in the exhibition mixed doubles match, the corporate teams brought incredible heart, and everyone united behind the incredible work of GOSH.”
The first edition of the UK Padel Charity Championships set the stage for the event to grow. Charity sponsor was Delta Capita with support from 10Star, Portico Sports and Lauralu UK plus a team from GOSH on the day. 🎾
