Game4Padel closing ‘meanwhile’ Padel Yard

Game4Padel closes Wandworth

It’s been voted one of London’s best padel clubs and became a ‘vibrant hub’ for the sport in the capital but Game4Padel has announced that its Padel Yard venue in Wandsworth is to close.

The six court venue, opened in 2023, was – like a number of padel facilities – developed on a ‘meanwhile’ site, the use of which was allowed while plans for permanent use/buildings were agreed.

G4P gained planning permission to use the site for padel until the end of January 2027 but has this week announced it will close – on a date yet to be confirmed – ahead of building work starting on-site. The Bandeja understands the land is earmarked for multi-storey student accommodation.

However, as one door closes another opens; G4P is sticking with the Padel Yard branding and shortly opening a new venue in central Vauxhall, some four miles from Wandsworth and on another meanwhile site.

G4P Padel Yard Vauxhall will initially be a three-court site on what the company described as a ‘new landmark development’ in partnership with Bmor, GFH Partners and Cedarstone. Its development answers requests from Vauxhall residents for more community activities.

“While the wider site remains vacant, this meanwhile use responds directly to that feedback, with further plans to be announced later this month,” said a G4P spokesman.

Padel Yard Vauxhall will have an onsite shop and social spaces for players and the local community to enjoy drinks and snacks.

Michael Gradon Game4Padel co-founder and CEO, said: “We will be extremely sad when The Padel Yard in Wandsworth eventually closes as it has been such an amazing success. It has helped define what padel can be in this country, replicating many of the successful clubs in Spain and in Europe, where the social aspect of the sport is just as important as the game itself. It has undoubtedly helped grow padel in this country opening the sport up to many thousands of people.

“The new site in Vauxhall will be London’s most central club offering a similar ambience and is ideally located for anyone in South-West London. We are very excited for the potential of this new club,” he added.

The Padel Yard Wandsworth welcomed more than 13,000 customers and recently had PodGolf and a therapy spa added. The Evening Standard named it as one of London’s best padel clubs.

Members will be able to transfer their membership to Vauxhall or play at any of the other 22 sites Game4Padel has across the UK. 🎾
